States without a count here
Alabama
Alabama has no early in-person voting, and the Secretary of State does not publish absentee counts before Election Day.
Arkansas
Arkansas's Secretary of State does not publish a statewide early voting file. Counties report their own.
Georgia
Georgia publishes turnout on the Secretary of State's Election Data Hub, which sits behind a bot check that automated downloads cannot pass.
Hawaii
Hawaii's Office of Elections terms bar automated access to its site, so we do not pull its numbers by script.
Kansas
Kansas shows advance voting counts on public dashboards that only render in a browser. Our scripts cannot read them cleanly, so we do not copy numbers off them.
Massachusetts
Massachusetts hosts its early voting statistics behind a bot check that automated downloads cannot pass. We do not get around bot checks.
Michigan
Michigan shows voter participation on a public dashboard that only renders in a browser. Our scripts cannot read it cleanly, so we do not copy numbers off it.
New York
New York's State Board of Elections site puts a bot check in front of its early voting pages. We do not get around bot checks.
Rhode Island
Rhode Island's election sites put a bot check in front of every page. We do not get around bot checks.
Tennessee
Tennessee posts daily early voting files, but the Secretary of State's file host refused our requests when we last tried.
Virginia
Virginia's Department of Elections does not publish early or absentee counts before Election Day. Its absentee statistics appear after the election.
Washington
Washington shows ballot returns on a public dashboard that only renders in a browser. Our scripts cannot read it cleanly, so we do not copy numbers off it.
West Virginia
West Virginia's Secretary of State shares early voting totals in press releases, with no data file.

How to read these numbers
- Early ballots are in-person early votes plus mail ballots returned. States count these in slightly different ways, and each state page says how.
- Most offices report through the end of the previous day. Every row shows the date of its office's latest update.
- Party figures, where a state publishes them, are the party a voter registered with. They do not show how anyone voted.
- These are aggregate counts. We never keep voter names, addresses or IDs.
